Robert Shaw

The ACE Trust is delighted to be associated with a memorial trust set up to remember Robert Shaw who, though he was taken from us at a very early age, had expressed an interest in qualifying as a medical doctor and working in Africa.

In recognition of Robert’s desire, an educational fund has been established with the objective of funding medical training for students, initially in the Democratic Republic of Congo.

Further details of the medical training support will be available in the near future but details are available at the Robert Shaw Medical Educational Fund web page

Robert Shaw

July 2011
We are delighted to report that work is progressing well on converting one of the old wards into an educational centre which will be used both for training hospital staff (doctors, nurses, midwives etc) and also for educational programs for the patients attending the hospital before they return to their home villages. A good selection of medical text books has been purchased and it is planned to update this on a regular basis. To date over €13,000 has been raised towards this project and we know that Robert’s memory will be well served through this generosity and that many throughout the Katanga region will certainly benefit.
